SDG Architecture’s recent design and project completion of Karl Flammer Ford’s Tarpon Springs facilities featured major work in the showroom, office spaces and administrative spaces. Rod Collman last renovated the Karl Flammer Ford showroom in the 1980’s with Fasnacht and Shultz Architects and although it was very well maintained, it had become dated and tired.

1) reduce the reverberation of noise within the space;
2) upgrade the lighting with a combination of LED recessed fixtures and track lighting to highlight and make the product sparkle like a jewelry counter;
3) install a porcelain tile flooring that would support the weight of the automobiles and complement the space;
4) give the sales staff nicer and more comfortable offices with visibility to the showroom floor;
5) select furnishings that were not only comfortable but practical and had lasting qualities.
1) SDG selected the very best noise reducing acoustical tile with a fine line designer grid that USG ceiling systems could provide;
2) SDG Architecture worked closely with Electrical Engineering Consultant Billy Huettig to create the high quality lighting system possible;
3) SDG selected a high strength porcelain tile used by other Ford Dealerships all over the country;
4) SDG designed a layout to achieve not only visibility but also a clean modern look that is reflective of the Ford Motor Company;
5) SDG brought in CDS (Commercial Design Services Inc.) for selection of the furniture to meet the look and comfort desired by the client. CDS was able to bring the Flammers to their showrooms and sit and touch the furniture before they made their decision to purchase. The furniture was also ordered and installed by CDS making a seamless design process through move-in.
“SDG Architecture is proud to have been given the opportunity to help the Flammers to refresh their image that we helped create 30 years ago,” said Collman. “Client loyalty like this is priceless.”
