“Projects like this are at the core of ending homelessness,” says Michael Raposa, chief executive officer of St. Vincent de Paul South Pinellas Inc., according to a release. “Affordable housing is the only solution.” The organization manages $12 million of the Veterans Administration Supportive Services for Veteran Families in the greater Tampa Bay area, serving over 1,200 veteran families annually. Under Mr. Raposa’s leadership, the organization’s operational growth has increased by 700%, with a 102% increase in staff.
The low-income residential project is named for Frederic Ozanam (1813 - 1853) who founded the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in 1833 In Paris as young student with others of the Sorbonne in Paris. Ozanam is known as the apostle of charity, the father of the poor and is today regarded as the Patron Saint of all charities. The first meeting of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the United States was held on November 20, 1845, only twelve years after its foundation in Paris.
Thank you, St. Vincent DePaul, for the opportunity to be part of your vision. Sdg Architecture is proud to be a part of this solution for affordable housing.
